The Civil Contingencies Act 2004 Part 1 identifies the organisations that play a vital role in Community Resilience throughout the UK and establishes a statutory framework for Civil Protection at the local level. Through Regulations and Guidance the legislation sets out clear roles and responsibilities for local responders. The Civil Contingencies Act (Contingency Planning) Regulations 2005 and guidance documents contain statutory and non-statutory guidance together with examples of best practice relating to the planning, response and recovery phases of Civil Protection.
